The Boring Bit

Laundry Duct TR19-Air Certificate

Your Laundry duct extraction system should form part of your buildings fire risk Assessment.
You must have a regular testing and cleaning regime in place for your laundry duct extract system.

Achieving certification under TR19 shows a dedication to fire safety and efficient ventilation. This process includes comprehensive evaluations of lint, dust, and debris accumulation, as well as compliance with cleaning and maintenance procedures to ensure peak performance.

The certificate must always be presented with images taken before and after cleaning, along with a system condition report.

Q.How Often do I need to get this done?

What the FAQ?

Can I clean the laundry ducts myself?

Answer. If you can safely access the system and have disconnected the extractor fan from electricity and any gas supply, then technically, you can clean the system yourself. We advise our clients to regularly clean the dryer, including any accessible lint traps and filters, as these should be part of your routine laundry dryer maintenance. However, your insurance company will require that the entire system be cleaned and certified by a qualified cleaning contractor.

How often do I need to get this cleaned?

Answer. The answer varies based on the average number of hours your kitchen operates daily over a typical week. You can refer to the handy table above or contact us for additional guidance.

Do I need to close the laundry for the clean?

Answer. The laundry needs to remain closed during the clean. However we operate 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, so we can undertake the clean whilst your business is closed.

How do I get a quote?

Answer. Typically, we can provide a quote for 99% of jobs without requiring a site visit. Simply send us a few images of the system, and we’ll send you a quote and availability within minutes. You can reach us via WhatsApp, email, text, or phone.

How much will the clean cost?

Answer. The cleaning cost depends on the system’s size and its recent cleaning history. However, as demonstrated in the example above (a regular clean pays for itself), regular cleaning is cost-effective because it enhances efficiency, leading to savings.
